Skin conditions are prevalent and represent a significant public health challenge, impacting millions worldwide. A study indicates that skin diseases rank as the fourth most common health issue, affecting approximately 1.9 billion people at any given time—nearly one-third of the global population. According to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), around 84.5 million Americans—approximately one in four—are affected by skin diseases, which impose a staggering $75 billion burden on the US healthcare system in terms of medical treatment, prevention, and both prescription and over-the-counter medications.
