Finding Success Through Patience and Vision in Your Journey

Chapter 1: The Essence of Patience
Patience is not merely about enduring; it’s about envisioning the end goal of your journey. As Elif Shafak beautifully puts it, “It means to look at the thorn and see the rose, to look at the night and see the dawn.” Engaging in long-term endeavors while fostering a growth mindset over a span of three years is your optimal strategy for achieving success.
Why do so few people pursue this path? The answer lies in the immense patience required to withstand the daunting silence that often accompanies the initial years of building an online presence.
Many people give up because:
- They fail to envision the final outcome.
- They keep track of the days.
- Their expectations are misaligned with reality.
The Reality of Online Growth
Achieving tangible results online typically takes a minimum of 2 to 5 years. If you have some prior experience, you might anticipate results within 2 to 3 years. However, starting from scratch could mean waiting 3 to 5 years just to establish a stable income.
This journey can be challenging, but that’s actually a positive aspect! I’ve dabbled in quick-money schemes, particularly in the cryptocurrency realm, and faced significant losses. The low barrier to entry attracts many, ultimately flooding the market and driving prices down.
Thus, if you want to avoid losing substantial amounts of money—like I did—prepare for a period of no returns during the first two years. Rather than fixating on day counts or follower numbers, focus on your vision of the final outcome.
The Perils of Counting
Spoiler alert: if you're fixated on counting days, followers, or reads, your patience will likely wane before you see real results. This passive endurance can be excruciating. Every professional creator will echo the sentiment: “It took longer than I anticipated.”
For me, it took half a year to gain my first 100 followers, followed by another 11 months for the next 100. The subsequent 100 took just 2 months, and the fourth batch arrived in under 20 days. I acknowledge that I am not the best at this, but I now have clarity.
I recognize the effort invested and embrace it. When I review my statistics, I don’t see three-digit figures. Instead, I consider the effort I’ve committed and perceive it as five-digit growth.
Closing Thoughts
Visualizing your goals is crucial. It took me 15 months to fully comprehend the intricacies of creating an online presence—the planning, writing, researching, and capturing ideas. While it’s easy to understand these concepts, truly grasping them is a different challenge.
I’ll leave you with a humorous yet profound quote from Warren Buffet: “No matter how great the talent or effort, some things just take time: You can’t produce a baby in one month by getting nine women pregnant.”
