Choosing Alignment: Walking Away from Unfulfilling Spaces

Written on

Chapter 1: Understanding the Comfort of the Familiar

There have been times when I've remained in unfulfilling situations or relationships simply because it was the easier choice. It felt less daunting than starting anew. It was less complicated than having another conversation. I avoided asking questions to which I already knew the answers, and I chose to stay in the discomfort I was accustomed to.

Recently, I found myself reflecting on someone I had briefly dated. I considered all the reasons I wasn’t genuinely interested in them, and then my Higher Self gently reminded me: “Stop fixating on what you think they lack. The fact that you felt they weren’t right for you is enough. That’s your truth.”

This thought has lingered with me.

Today, I began to feel a heaviness in my eyes, a sensation that was unusual but not entirely uncomfortable. Typically, this feeling indicates that something is concluding, that news is on the way, or that someone I recently spoke with was carrying heavy energy. I leaned into this sensation.

Eventually, the realization struck me: it was time to end a business relationship I had been contemplating since December. Today, the moment had come.

I told myself, “Today is the day.” Today, I would stop putting it off, inform them of my decision, and accept that I would need to pick up the pieces.

At first, I was relieved to make this decision, as the relationship had not been fulfilling. I had stayed because it felt simpler than starting over. However, while I was on the call to inform them, I realized the work I would have to undertake now… Suddenly, I felt a surge of anger—not at them, but directed inward. I was frustrated with myself. What had I gotten into? face to palm

As I mulled over my reasons for leaving, Spirit reassured me: “It’s okay. That relationship was not meant for you. That’s sufficient.”

I reflected on all the times I lingered in situations to avoid the discomfort of leaving, only to realize that staying often did more harm than good. It delayed the inevitable and kept me tied to energy that didn’t serve my higher purpose. While I can’t predict how things will unfold from here, I have faith that I can manage whatever comes.

Has there ever been a moment when something felt overwhelmingly heavy, yet you still managed to navigate through it? I often think about my life and how I have always confronted challenges, regardless of how daunting they seemed.

As I contemplated these messages from Spirit, I recognized a recurring theme in this season of my life: it’s time to stop remaining in spaces that do not resonate with me. No matter the investment, if something doesn’t feel right or align with my values, it’s time to let it go.

It’s not about labeling people or situations as good or bad; it’s simply about recognizing that they are not the right fit for me.

This realization brings me joy, love, and peace.

My guiding word for 2024 is ELEVATED. The thought of creating a life where I can release what doesn't align is exhilarating and empowering, perfectly in tune with the energy of elevation I aspire to embody.

Earlier this evening, I reminded myself: I am TRUTH. I’ve set a daily reminder around 3:35 PM to reaffirm this truth that I wish to embody.

When we begin to embody new energies and speak positivity into our lives, it may feel like everything is being turned upside down. However, in reality, things are being reshaped to align with our true selves and the energies we wish to attract and stabilize.

I AM TRUTH may be ushering in change.

AND GET THIS: I unexpectedly ran into that guy I mentioned earlier. I hadn’t seen him in about a month, even though he frequents my neighborhood. I waved at him and moved on without any emotional turmoil. I felt grateful for that ease.

Considering my recent experience with ending the business relationship and everything I went through today, I can’t help but smile. I did shed a few tears while starting this article—thank God—because sometimes we need to release the energy of the past to clear the way for a fresh start.

This journey of returning to ourselves, of remembering and accepting who we are, can feel overwhelming at times. The weight of it can even become paralyzing.

While I typically don’t dwell on emotions for long, I knew it would eventually pass. However, in those overwhelming moments of fear, anger, or frustration, it can feel as if we won’t emerge unscathed.

BUT WE ALWAYS DO.

If there’s one takeaway from this article, it’s this: we can live in harmony with our values. We have the power to create a life that supports the version of the world we wish to inhabit. We can choose what we say yes to and later decide, “This isn’t working for me,” and then walk away.

Nothing is so permanent that we can’t choose again, even if the decision feels challenging.

May you embrace the liberating power of saying “no” to what doesn’t resonate with you, understanding that letting go is not a weakness but a brave act of self-love. Your life is a canvas, and every decision you make contributes to the masterpiece you are creating.

Stand in your truth, be the architect of your experiences, and allow the energy of authenticity to guide you.

As you release what no longer serves you, you create space for magic to unfold. Remember, each choice holds the potential to elevate your life to new heights.

May your journey be filled with clarity of purpose, self-awareness, and the limitless possibilities that arise when you align your life with your core values.

You are the author of your story, and with every intentional choice, you craft a narrative that reflects the authenticity and brilliance of your soul.

Here’s to choosing alignment, embracing transformation, and living a life that resonates with the melody of your heart.
