Chapter 1: The Journey of Becoming a Writer

Every writer has a story that signifies an essential lesson, and mine is no different.

When I first stepped into the realm of professional writing, I was anxious about my lack of formal qualifications. However, I was driven by a strong desire to share what I knew worked. I began my writing journey with nothing but a blank sheet of paper, unsure of how to truly embrace the title of "writer."

At that point, I believed that being a writer involved:

  • Owning an extensive collection of books
  • Frequently gazing out of a window for inspiration
  • Continuously working on a manuscript that never seemed finished

I viewed writing more as a creative identity rather than a career path.

Each day, I dedicated countless hours to reading and gathering knowledge, hoping to understand the intricacies of the business world better. Surprisingly, my self-confidence proved beneficial. I was making progress, garnering positive feedback, and producing meaningful work.

As my time and energy were limited, I sought a way to filter the vast amount of information available, aiming to focus on what truly mattered and avoid distractions. Some moments were enjoyable, but they didn’t align with my long-term aspirations.

I recognized that after long workdays of 10 to 12 hours, I struggled to find the motivation to write. To achieve my goal of becoming a professional writer, I realized I needed more than hard work and focus; I required a strategic plan and a clear path forward.

To kickstart my journey, I reached out to a blogger I admired, who had successfully built companies and was earning a decent income from blogging. He became a mentor, offering valuable insights on entrepreneurship and personal development. His advice included testing ideas, learning from feedback, assessing qualifications, taking calculated risks, and continuously striving for improvement.

I decided to monitor my mentor's social media interactions, paying attention to those who engaged with his content. This helped me connect with like-minded individuals who shared similar interests.

Fortunately, he shared a link to his Quora account, which inspired me to create my own account. In 2020, I set a challenge for myself to write one answer on Quora every day for an entire year. I saw this as an opportunity to hone my writing skills, which could support my dreams of writing and pursuing entrepreneurial endeavors.

As fate would have it, within the first month, I experienced a surge of success with an answer that received around 10,000 views. The following month brought more positive feedback, but by the third month, I felt the weight of exhaustion. Writing and publishing daily proved to be a tough challenge, and I often found myself questioning, "Wasn't writing supposed to be easier?"

One particularly long day, I stumbled upon a small note where I had jotted down a powerful formula. Those words were incredibly valuable! From just 20 pages of content, a flood of knowledge and inspiration would wash over me, unlike anything I had ever experienced.

To this day, that 20-page document remains one of my most widely shared articles online, despite my having written over 3,000 pieces. The moral of my story is simple:

I distinctly remember a day when I felt reluctant to write. I thought to myself, "If I don’t write today, it won’t matter. Just head home." Yet, that 20-page idea propelled me into the spotlight and significantly altered my path as a writer.

By the end of that year, I had completed one book, and the following year, I published another that became a bestseller.

So, the next time you think, "I can skip writing today," keep my story in mind. You never know if today's words could become some of the best you’ve ever written.

Eliminate doubt. Just write—even if it’s just a few sentences. Write. Publish. Repeat.

Thank you.
