Title: Embrace Your Weaknesses to Discover True Growth
Written on
Chapter 1: The Challenge of Growth
Life is a delicate balance between falling and soaring, and often, we struggle to distinguish between the two.
Currently, I find myself participating in a cybersecurity competition, with the modest aim of scoring just one point. With 35 hours left on the clock, my chances seem to dwindle by the minute. I entered this competition fully aware of my lack of skills, but I didn't anticipate just how challenging it would be. I thought I could manage by improvising and searching online for answers. Had I truly understood what I was getting into, I might have deemed it a waste of time.
Surprisingly, I don't feel regret about my decision to participate. This experience has taught me a valuable lesson: I need to engage more in activities where I struggle. Growth only occurs in the 'suck zone.' Otherwise, everything would be far too easy. What's the value of solving simple addition problems repeatedly? Eventually, we must advance to more complex tasks—though I won't fault you if you choose to stop at calculus.
For most of my life, I've lingered within my comfort zone. However, I've come to realize that this so-called comfort is merely an illusion. A steady job can also create a false sense of security, and it may even be a trap.
At 21, I reflect on the future: if I continue to stay within my comfort zone, I will find myself at 31, living the exact same life—holding onto the same thoughts, emotions, and dilemmas. Walking the same grassy path repeatedly will eventually create a smooth dirt road. It's reminiscent of the film Groundhog Day, where the protagonist relives the same day endlessly. We might not realize our stagnation until a decade has passed, and we wake up to a life that feels all too familiar.
It's natural to feel like giving up when faced with challenges. I could easily vanish from this competition without facing immediate consequences. But what would I lose in terms of learning?
It's easy to perceive failure or to feel as if you are on a downward spiral. Yet, what if you are actually on the verge of soaring? The line between falling and flying can be extremely thin.
Despite spending four hours on the same problem, I am determined to earn that point in the competition. How can we hope to soar if we don't first leap? If we never embrace the risk of falling?
Life operates like a black box: introduce varied inputs to yield diverse outputs. Stick to the same inputs, and you'll only get predictable results.
Now is the time to take that leap.

Section 1.2: The Importance of Challenges
Faced with obstacles, it's crucial to embrace them rather than shy away. Each challenge presents an opportunity for learning and development.
Chapter 2: Taking the Leap
In the journey of life, it's essential to break free from the predictable and take risks. Only then can we experience true growth and transformation.
